NAPOLEON SWITCHES TO WAX PAPER WRAP
Savings of over 60,000 kg of plastic per year
Candy manufacturer Confiserie Napoleon is proud to announce a change in the piece packaging of its iconic Napoleon candy balls. From this autumn, she will – following sister brand ANTA flu – switch to a waxed paper wrapper for all her 27 flavor variants instead of the traditional plastic variant. This strategic decision means a saving of approximately 60,000 kg of plastic per year. It illustrates Napoleon’s commitment to contribute to the global reduction of plastic use and to play a continued active role in reducing litter.
Each flavor variant of the candy has its own recognizable wrapping color. All colors can be found on the website napoleonsnoep.nl. This FSC® paper wrapper is coated with a vegetable wax made from corn and rapeseed for moisture protection. This wax is palm oil and coconut oil free. If a wrapper, despite its slightly heavier weight, accidentally ends up in nature, it will now quickly decay. Please note that the wrapper simply belongs in the waste bin and that Napoleon also expressly points out to its users his or her own responsibility in this regard through the packaging & communication.
With an annual average consumption of 360 million wrappers, Napoleon expects that this transition will result in a better and cleaner living environment. The transition to waxed paper wrappers is not only a milestone for the brand, but also an inspiration for others in the industry to follow the path of change and progress.
